According to Utilities Middle East, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has reportedly moved against a familiar energy paradox: the infrastructure that delivers clean power can itself disrupt the ecosystems it is meant to protect. The utility, known as DEWA, is linking renewable expansion directly to biodiversity and resource protection. The event was organized by the department of international cooperation of China's Ministry of Natural Resources, together with the ministry's publicity and education center, the Institute of Botany at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the IUCN China Members Network.

Wu Jun, deputy director-general of the department, framed the work as both a national priority and a contribution to global ecological governance. She pointed to the election of Academician Ma Keping as chair of the top governing body of UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme, the promotion of nature-based solution standards, and the publication of Chinese case studies for international audiences. Wang Xiaoquan, director of the Institute of Botany, highlighted the institute's role in compiling the Flora of China, recognized with three National Natural Science First Prizes that account for three of the eight first prizes awarded in life sciences since 1949. He also noted an ecological grassland-livestock strategy developed by the institute to address overgrazing, now embedded in China's agricultural policy framework.

During the exchange, representatives from foundations, technology companies, and international organizations discussed practical levers, including social mobilization for national park construction, green finance for monetizing ecological products, and tech-enabled ecological education.
